Residents of Brenwar Village in Chadoora Tehsil: Protest Against Numberdar Saifudin Jaraha
Residents of Brenwar Village gathered in protest against Numberdar Saifudin Jaraha, accusing him of corruption and misconduct. The villagers demanded his removal from the post and a fair investigation into the alleged wrongdoing. The protest was peaceful but determined, with participants holding placards and shouting slogans to voice their grievances.

The protesters gathered at Press Enclave, chanting slogans against the Numberdar, whom they accuse of harassing people on various pretexts.

The residents also claim that Numberdar has been in the position for 30 years without any elections and is over 60 years old, which makes him ineligible to continue. They are calling for a fresh election for the post of Numberdar in accordance with the law and justice.

According to SRO 412 dated 29th September 2017, the age limit for Numberdars was reduced to a maximum of 60 years. However, the protesters claim that the Numberdar is above 60 years old and is therefore ineligible to continue.

Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Chadoora, Noor Hamid, stated that an official cannot be removed from his position merely because a handful of villagers do not support him. However, an enquiry has been initiated, and the concerned Tehsildar has been appointed as the enquiry officer.

The SDM assures that the law will take its course, and a letter has been sent to the police to check whether the Numberdar has ever been convicted. Regarding fresh elections, the SDM mentioned that it is a lengthy process, and the same will be held when the law department issues a notification.
